In America during WWII, every resource was poured into the war effort. With over 12 million Americans - 11% of the total population - serving in the armed forces, everything from food to labor was tight on the Home Front. This poster depicts an older man, who wouldn't have been drafted, buying a bond on his payday.
J. Walter Wilkinson (1892-1988) and his son Walter G. Wilkinson (1917-1971) created several posters for the United States Department of Treasury during the Second World War. J. Walter Wilkinson was an academic painter who studied in Italy and worked for advertising agencies in Philadelphia. He specialized in outdoors landscapes, but also created many commercial artworks for advertising campaigns including Ivory Soap, Pabst Beer, and Ballantine Ale.
This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster has been archivally backed onto linen and is in excellent condition. We guarantee the authenticity of all of our posters.

What Does 'Original' Mean?
We only deal in original vintage posters, never reproductions. This means that every poster is from the original print run, in the year listed in the description. Everything we sell comes with an individually signed certificate of authenticity, which we fully guarantee.
