
The majesty of the Northern Lights reflecting off a snowy ski slope is the main focus of this lovely poster promoting travel to Sweden. This poster was created in 1935 by an unidentified artist, and features the older style ski poles used at the time. It was commissioned by the Swedish Traffic Association.
The Northern Lights, or Aurora Borealis, is a natural phenomenon in which the night sky illuminated in beautiful colors. Present in only very high latitudes, it is caused by solar wind. The Northern Lights are typically visible only in the far northern Lapland region of Sweden, and can only be seen during the months of September through March.
