Acapulco, a popular beach resort town on the pacific coast of Mexico was made famous in the 50’s and 60’s by the jet set and is known now for its high-energy nightlife, beaches and golf and natural landscape. Artist Dong Kingman (1911-2000) captures just that in this vibrant Acapulco – American Airlines poster featuring many people enjoying the sun, sand and idyllic weather on the Acapulco beachside.

American Airlines is a major airline based in Fort Worth, Texas. The company was founded in 1926 as a union of more than eighty small airlines and is the world’s largest airline. American Airlines is a founding member of Oneworld Alliance, the largest airline alliance in the world. Through this partnership they are able to coordinate fares and services with Airlines around the world. In 2001, they acquired the well-known Trans World Airlines (TWA) They still operate today out of ten major hubs in the United States.

Born in Oakland, California, Dong Kingman was a Chinese American artist and one of America's leading watercolor masters. Kingman was given the name "King Man" (scenery in Catonese) because of his aspiration to become an artist. As a painter on the forefront of the California Style School of painting, he was known for his urban and landscape paintings, as well as his graphic design work in the Hollywood film industry. He has won widespread critical acclaim and his works are included in over 50 public and private collections worldwide, including Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; Brooklyn Museum; deYoung Museum and Art Institute, Chicago. – Wikipedia
