This enchanting Art Nouveau poster by Alphonse Mucha was created in 1899 to promote Lefèvre-Utile biscuits, one of the premier French biscuit makers of the era. In "Flirt," Mucha transforms a simple product advertisement into a celebration of youthful romance and elegance. A tender moment unfolds between a fashionably dressed couple, framed by a stylized floral archway and seated on a park bench. The brand name "LU" is subtly featured within the composition, serving as both an emblem of quality and a reminder of the product behind the sentiment.

Alphonse Mucha (1860–1939) was a Czech-born artist and a central figure of the Art Nouveau movement. Renowned for his decorative style, he became internationally famous through his iconic posters for the actress Sarah Bernhardt and for commercial clients across Europe. Mucha’s work is characterized by its flowing lines, ornate patterns, and idealized female figures, all of which are evident in this beautifully balanced composition.

  • Just wanted to say thanks for the poster. You sent it on Thursday and it was delivered the following Monday (nearly quicker than it took us to get home) to our house in Perth, Australia. We have just had it framed. We love it; it goes perfectly with the room.
