This chic poster was created for a show about the life and career of Hubert de Givenchy at Paris' Palais Galliera and features an illustration Rene Gruau created for the brand in the 1950s. The Givenchy exhibition at Palais Galliera in 1992 celebrated the iconic French fashion house's rich history. Curated to showcase the evolution of Hubert de Givenchy's designs, the exhibition highlighted key collections, including haute couture pieces and significant moments from the designer’s career. It offered a comprehensive look at Givenchy's contributions to fashion, featuring elegant garments and detailed displays of his craftsmanship and style.

The Palais Galliera, also known as the Musée de la Mode de la Ville de Paris, is Paris's fashion museum renowned for its extensive collection of historical and contemporary fashion pieces. Situated in a grand 19th-century building, it hosts rotating exhibitions that explore the art and history of fashion.

René Gruau (1909 – 2004) was a fashion illustrator whose exaggerated portrayal of fashion design through painting has had a lasting effect on the fashion industry. Gruau used simplicity of lines and crisp color, particularly, blacks, reds, and yellows to create his images. His sense of fashion and style still resonates with contemporary taste.Gruau is one of the best known and favorite artists of the haute couture world. Gruau’s artwork is recognized and commended internationally in some of Paris and Italy's most prestigious art museums including the Louvre in Paris. In addition to his international fame and recognition, "Gruau's artwork is known for its timeless and enduring style".

  • Just wanted to say thanks for the poster. You sent it on Thursday and it was delivered the following Monday (nearly quicker than it took us to get home) to our house in Perth, Australia. We have just had it framed. We love it; it goes perfectly with the room.
