Italia - Tivoli Villa D'Este

The Italian community of Tivoli is located in the region close to Rome. In Tivoli, one can visit the Villa d’Este which can trace its creation to the 16th. Century. The Villa d’Este site is set into a hillside with many terraced levels and its features a large series of apartments and Hal’s comprising the main buildings of the site. It’s many ceiling are home to a wealth of frescoes painted centuries ago. What is especially notable about the Villa is its lush gardens and numerous fountains created to enhance the outdoor areas. The setting of the Villa is one of lush greenery surrounding it with the many fountains helping to both beautify the area and add some cooling.
The image created here was commissioned by ENIT, the agency of the Italian Government founded in 1919 to promote rail travel throughout Italy. The anonymous artist successfully captured some of the beauty of the Villa d’Este in this image and he also conveyed a sense of the lushness of the gardens by his effective use of various tones of green.
