Emile Georget and Emile Friol (known as "Les Deux Emiles") were stars of the French bicycle world of the 1910s. Georget competed in road races, and Friol took on sprints. Both would have been recognizable to the average person on the street, making it important for us to see their detailed portraits in this poster as they race around a track.

La Francaise was a bicycle, motorbike, and auto company formed in 1890 by Victor Besse and Francois Tripier. The company sponsored its own professional cycling team, also called 'La Francaise'. Cyclists on the team would win in various Tour de France races over the years, until the teams demise in 1955. This poster was created for the bicycle company, with a focus on their "Diamant" (diamond) model.

This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is linen backed and in excellent condition. We guarantee the authenticity of all our posters.

  • If there's anything you want to know about posters, vintage or more modern, there's nothing Mr Ross doesn't know. His open and friendly manner helps one to choose the most suitable material whether for decoration, investment or whatever... I can't recommend him highly enough.

  • Just wanted to say thanks for the poster. You sent it on Thursday and it was delivered the following Monday (nearly quicker than it took us to get home) to our house in Perth, Australia. We have just had it framed. We love it; it goes perfectly with the room.

  • The Ross Gallery has the best selection of vintage posters I have ever seen. Seriously, if you are in the market, they are the people. And, they know everything there is to know about the posters' provenance.
