Maîtres de l'Affiche (Masters of the Poster) refers to 256 color lithographic plates used to create an art publication during the Belle Époque in Paris, France. The collection, reproduced from the original works of ninety-seven artists in a smaller 11 x 15 inch format, was put together by Jules Chéret, the father of poster art and distributed between 1895 – 1900. The varied selection of prints were sold in packages of four and delivered monthly to subscribers. Designed for a subscription audience it showcased the most influential posters of the era in a collectible small format.

Viktor Oliva (1861-1928) was a Czech painter and illustrator best known for his painting, Absinthe Drinker, which presently hangs in the notable Cafe Slavia in Prague, Czech Republic. Oliva, aside from his contributions to Maitre De l’Affiche and other various illustrations, is notable as well for his position as the art director of the Czech magazine, Zlata Praha from 1899 – 1916. This poster for the Topicov Salon by Oliva advertises for a collective art exhibition in Prague (souborna vystava). The text placed in the left-most portion of the lithograph can be translated to "Art Exhibition in Prague" with the corresponding opening times of the salon, from 9 am to 7 pm.
