Marines march through the beach village of Saipan in the Northern Mariana Islands in this American WWII poster by Captain Vic Guinness. It is part of a 1945 enlistment campaign by the U.S. Marine Corps, which depicted different scenes of battle. Each poster in the series features art by an active servicemember.
The text of this poster reads: "When Saipan and Tinian were needed as bases for the superfort attacks on Japan, the veteran Second and Fourth Marine Divisions stormed Saipan's beaches on June 14,1944. With only ten days' rest after the fall of Saipan, the dauntless Marines crossed to Tinian to complete the triumph!".
