Men of Valor - They Fight For You
Men of Valor - They Fight For You
(61cm x 91cm)
This WWII poster was created by the Canadian Government. It depicts a real showdown that occured between Canadian Naval forces and a German U- Boat off the coast of Haiti. On August 28, 1942 the U- Boat approached the Royal Canadian Navy's U-45 and two crew members came aboard to try and overtake the vessel. The crew of the 'Oakville' bravely fought them off and became a success story of the Caribbean campaign.
The artist of this poster is R. Hubert Rogers (1898-1982). He was a Canadian-born artist who served in WWI and left for a time to study in America at the Art Students League of NYC and work for editorials such as the New York Times. In the interwar years, he grew his career as a pulp fiction artist. When WWII broke out, he returned to Canada and created posters for the war effort.
This is an Original Vintage Poster, not a reproduction. It has been archivally backed onto linen and is in excellent condition. We fully guarantee the authenticity of our items.

If there's anything you want to know about posters, vintage or more modern, there's nothing Mr Ross doesn't know. His open and friendly manner helps one to choose the most suitable material whether for decoration, investment or whatever... I can't recommend him highly enough.

Just wanted to say thanks for the poster. You sent it on Thursday and it was delivered the following Monday (nearly quicker than it took us to get home) to our house in Perth, Australia. We have just had it framed. We love it; it goes perfectly with the room.

The Ross Gallery has the best selection of vintage posters I have ever seen. Seriously, if you are in the market, they are the people. And, they know everything there is to know about the posters' provenance.
