This original vintage Swiss travel poster by **Alois Carigiet** promotes the spectacular **Bernese Oberland**, one of Switzerland’s most celebrated Alpine regions. Carigiet depicts a vast panorama of snow-covered mountains rising above an Alpine lake, with a traditionally dressed figure and grazing cattle in the foreground. His distinctive use of vigorous, textured lines and broad areas of blue, white, green and brown gives the landscape an almost woodcut-like quality while emphasizing the immense scale of the mountains. The bilingual heading **“L’Oberland Bernois / Bernese Oberland”** identifies the destination for an international audience, while **“La Suisse Terre de Beauté / Beautiful Switzerland”** reinforces Switzerland’s promotion as a country of exceptional natural beauty. The Bernese Oberland encompasses such renowned destinations as Interlaken, Grindelwald, Wengen and the Jungfrau region and became one of the defining destinations of Swiss Alpine tourism.**Alois Carigiet (1902–1985)** was a Swiss painter, graphic designer and illustrator born in Trun in the canton of Graubünden. After establishing himself as a successful graphic artist in Zurich, he returned to the Swiss Alps, whose landscapes and traditional rural culture became central themes in his work. Carigiet was also an important book illustrator, best known internationally for his illustrations for the beloved Swiss children’s book *Schellen-Ursli* (*A Bell for Ursli*). His poster designs are distinguished by bold draftsmanship, simplified forms and a particularly expressive interpretation of the Swiss landscape. This is an original vintage poster, **linen backed and in excellent condition. Authenticity is guaranteed.**
