This fascinating pictorial poster was created by Pan Am to showcase the history of aeronautics in general, as well as highlights from the airline's past, present and future. It was printed with special metallic inks that glint and gleam. Of particular note is the mention of Pan Am's "plans to operate supersonic jet transport airliners" in the future, which would be the iconic Concorde jet. It is a wonderful image for aviation buffs or even a children's room.

Pan Am (Pan American Airlines, or PAA) was founded in 1927 by Henry H. "Hap" Arnold, Carl A. Spaatz, and John H. Jouett. The company rose to prominence by opening new travel routes to South America, and securing the support of Charles Lindbergh to help establish landing rights to many exotic locales. Pan Am was always considered a trendy airline, where the stewardesses wore designer outfits. Iconically, the Beatles flew Pan Am when they first arrived in the United States. More recently, Pan Am played a large part in the 2002 Stephen Speilberg film Catch Me If You Can. Pan Am ceased operation in 1991, but is still referenced as an important part of the look and feel of the Mad Men era of traveling.
