Philips Stereophonic - Trumpet and Bass
Philips Stereophonic - Trumpet and Bass
(156cm x 112cm)
Jazz was the hottest ticket in town in 1960s France, so it's no surprise that the genre's main instruments of an upright bass and trumpet are on display in this bold poster for Philips Stereosonic record players. A rainbow gradient straddles the two instruments, with the portrait of a man deep in thought in the center. Is he deeply listening to the music, a conductor, or perhaps a composer? Either way, it is clear that a Philips record player is perfect for serious music lovers.
The 1960's saw a tremendous growth in the development of consumer electronics throughout Europe. The Philips Company was one of the largest of the manufacturers of radios, record players, and televisions as well as other household appliances. This poster was created for the French market by the artist Eric

If there's anything you want to know about posters, vintage or more modern, there's nothing Mr Ross doesn't know. His open and friendly manner helps one to choose the most suitable material whether for decoration, investment or whatever... I can't recommend him highly enough.

Just wanted to say thanks for the poster. You sent it on Thursday and it was delivered the following Monday (nearly quicker than it took us to get home) to our house in Perth, Australia. We have just had it framed. We love it; it goes perfectly with the room.

The Ross Gallery has the best selection of vintage posters I have ever seen. Seriously, if you are in the market, they are the people. And, they know everything there is to know about the posters' provenance.
