This poster for Pates Blanches at Galerie 65 aptly exhibits the well-known characteristics of Pablo Picasso style. The poster, set in white, focuses heavily on form and shape, speaking to Picasso’s profound involvement with Cubism. In the center of the image is a circle imposed with the face of a woman, embellished in geometric forms.

In the 1950’s, Mourlot Freres, a French printing company printed many original posters of important artists of the day. In 1959 company printed the series Affiches Originales for collectors. Affiches Originales refers to the reduced lithographic versions of the original posters created by contemporary visionaries such as Picasso, Chagall, Braque, Matisse, Miro, Leger, and Dufy. Unfortunately, there is little information on Galerie 65 located in Cannes or the exhibition that this specific poster was illustrated for.

Pablo Ruiz y Picasso, also known as Pablo Picasso (25 October 1881 - 8 April 1973), was a Spanish painter, sculptor, printmaker, ceramicist, stage designer, poet and playwright who spent most of his adult life in France. Regarded as one of the greatest and most influential artists of the 20th century, he is known for co-founding the Cubist movement, the invention of constructed sculpture, the co-invention of collage, and for the wide variety of styles that he helped develop and explore. Exceptionally prolific throughout the course of his long life, Picasso achieved universal renown and immense fortune for his revolutionary artistic accomplishments, and became one of the best-known figures in 20th-century art.
