This poster, advertising the "Summer Season" at the General Exposition in Paris was created after 1930. It is a wonderful representation of the Art Deco style, which at the time was its prime in Europe and the United States. This modern poster features a vibrant combination of yellow, orange and brown hues, mirroring the hot temperatures of the summer season. The bold geometric forms of the Art Deco style can be observed in the poster through its asymmetric composition and strong rectangular forms.

The Art Deco movement was an offshoot of the groundbreaking 1925 International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts. The Art Deco movement was a pastiche of many different art styles, unified in the desire to be modern. Art Deco was heavily influenced by Cubism in its strong emphasis of bold, geometric forms and Fauvism in its common use of vibrant colours. Art Deco separates itself from other fine arts movements in its collective notion that the art object has no utilitarian functioning, or purpose except providing interesting visuals.

Unfortunately, there is little information on the artist of this poster, Pierre Segogne (? -1958).

This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed, and in excellent condition. We guarantee the authenticity of all our posters.
