This vintage travel poster was created around 1950. The style is very typical of the artist, Guy Georget, who began his graphic career with work from the tourist industry in Spain. This still life, as many other examples of his early work, is heavily in influenced by well-known cubist painters Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque.

The creator of this poster, Guy Georget (1911-1992) first entered the poster advertising world in the late 1940’s. His first artworks for travel posters exhibited a clear Picasso/Matisse influence. In 1960, Georget designed the logo for La Poste, the French national postal service. He was well known for his many designs for Air France as well as Philips Electronics.
