A man rips off his coat and throws his hat on the ground in outrage over his newspaper's headline that reads, "Huns Kill Women and Children!" in this dramatic WWI poster by acclaimed artist, James Montgomery Flagg. The simple and focused text of this poster simply states, "Tell that to The Marines!". In some variants of this poster, a local recruiting office's address is printed below this line. The message here is simple - if you're outraged, sign up to serve in the war.

James Montgomery Flagg (1877-1960) began his illustration career at the age of 12, with contributions to Life magazine by age 14. He studied in New York at the Art Students League as well as in London and Paris. He worked in a variety of illustration styles in publishing, and rose to become the top paid illustrator at the height of his career. Flagg is best known for his patriotic recruitment posters. His most famous, "I Want You," features Uncle Sam. Flagg modeled the portrait of Uncle Sam on himself, only adding a goatee and white hair. The poster was wildly successful reaching over four million copies produced during World War I alone.

This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed, and in excellent condition. We guarantee the authenticity of all of our posters.
