This poster from 1917 was commissioned by the Emergency Fleet Corporation (EFC). The EFC was founded in 1917 by the United States Shipping Board (USSB), which was established while the United States was at peace to try to restore the nation's Merchant Marine. After the entry of the U.S. in WWI the function of the USSB changed radically, becoming a military agency that maintained the line of communication between America and Europe.

In this poster we see an image of two ships created by Adolph Treidler (1886-1981) with a big red lettering: The Ships Are Coming. This poster was intended for workers of the companies that made the ships for the EFC. The text encourages workers to work hard and long hours, since their work is needed to bring provisions, armament and news, as the poster suggests, to American soldiers fighting in Europe.
The artist of the poster, Adolph Treidler, studied painting and drawing at the Henri School of Art in New York City. He created various posters for different governmental organizations during WWI, focusing in Liberty Loans posters and manufacturing efforts, particularly of women working in munitions plants. Treidler also worked on posters during WWII, as well as designing for magazines and advertisement.

This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed, and in excellent condition. We guarantee the authenticity of all of our posters.
