Vin Fou Medieval Large
Vin Fou Medieval Large
(74cm x 109cm)
This Vin Fou Medieval poster by artist Paul Grimault featuring the name of Henri Maire on the upper left-hand corner of the image is a festive poster depicting a celebration of sorts. By virtue of the use of bubbles and the beads scattered amongst the table, Grimault does a wonderful job of making the drinking of Vin Fou sparkling wine look like a joyous time. The bottom text of the poster brings this all together, reading "the greatest breed of great sparkling wines."
Henri Maire was a French businessman and namesake of the French Estate. In 1939, Maire inherited 26 hecatres of vines which gradually assembled into a huge estate that reached its height of success in the 1950s with the establishment of the Vin Fou, or Mad Wine.
Unfortunately, there is little information on artist Paul Grimault.

If there's anything you want to know about posters, vintage or more modern, there's nothing Mr Ross doesn't know. His open and friendly manner helps one to choose the most suitable material whether for decoration, investment or whatever... I can't recommend him highly enough.

Just wanted to say thanks for the poster. You sent it on Thursday and it was delivered the following Monday (nearly quicker than it took us to get home) to our house in Perth, Australia. We have just had it framed. We love it; it goes perfectly with the room.

The Ross Gallery has the best selection of vintage posters I have ever seen. Seriously, if you are in the market, they are the people. And, they know everything there is to know about the posters' provenance.
