In 1976, a significant moment in Chinese history unfolded when the great leader Chairman Mao Zedong selected Hua Guofeng as his successor. This historic occasion is beautifully depicted in the poster "With You in Charge, I Am at Ease."
During a crucial meeting between Mao and Hua, Mao penned three notes of guidance: "Take it slow, don't rush," "Follow the principles of the past," and "With you in charge, I am at ease." These profound words offered Hua Guofeng the much-needed reassurance and confidence to shoulder the responsibilities ahead.
Following Mao's passing, a power struggle emerged, with the Jiang Qing faction, commonly known as the "Gang of Four," attempting to challenge Hua Guofeng's authority as the rightful successor. Hua Guofeng, in cooperation with senior comrades within the Communist Party, successfully thwarted the plots of the Gang of Four.
The poster not only commemorates the momentous meeting between Mao and Hua but also symbolizes the turning point when Hua Guofeng assumed leadership amidst challenges and uncertainties. It reflects the unwavering support and trust bestowed upon him by Mao Zedong and exemplifies the Party's determination to uphold its principles and preserve unity during internal struggles. This poignant poster serves as a timeless reminder of the strength and resilience of the Chinese Communist Party during a crucial transitional period and underscores the significance of unity and collective endeavor in upholding Chairman Mao's revolutionary ideals.
