Eldorado Music Hall - Cheret
Eldorado Music Hall - Cheret
(82cm x 123cm)
Ah, to be in Paris during La Belle Epoque! This Jules Cheret poster for the famed Parisian music hall, Eldorado, perfectly capture the "joie de vivre" of this notorious time in the City of Lights. Rather than advertising a specific revue, this poster highlights that "every night" there is msuic and revelry to be had at the iconic venue.
Jules Cheret (1836-1932) was known as the "Father of the Modern Poster". He was a French painter and lithographer who traveled to England as an apprentice and introduced the latest lithography techniques to French culture. Paired with his creativity and artistic flair, Cheret began creating advertisements for cabarets, music halls, and theaters. His artwork is typified by his influence of the Rococo movement to create vivid advertising, often featuring free-spirited young women that became known as "Cherettes". These figures have become quintessential Belle Epoque imagery. Cheret's posters earned him a gold medal at the Paris World's Fair in 1889.
This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed, and in very good condition. There is some staining in the margins, none which affects the image. We guarantee the authenticity of all of our posters.

If there's anything you want to know about posters, vintage or more modern, there's nothing Mr Ross doesn't know. His open and friendly manner helps one to choose the most suitable material whether for decoration, investment or whatever... I can't recommend him highly enough.

Just wanted to say thanks for the poster. You sent it on Thursday and it was delivered the following Monday (nearly quicker than it took us to get home) to our house in Perth, Australia. We have just had it framed. We love it; it goes perfectly with the room.

The Ross Gallery has the best selection of vintage posters I have ever seen. Seriously, if you are in the market, they are the people. And, they know everything there is to know about the posters' provenance.
