Follow Safety Rules
Follow Safety Rules
(73cm x 101cm)
Follow Safety Rules is a stark reminder of safety in the workplace. Created in 1942 as a public service announcement poster, the image poignantly displays the various caps/helmets of many different construction and factory positions along with their associated tools. The repetition of small white cross grave markings is reminiscent of Arlington National Ceremony. Below the image reads a sentence relating the number of deaths from workplace accidents to casualties in bombings in the U.K. The poster serves as a reminder of safety, but also as an elevation of the worker's role in the war effort emphasizing their importance to that of a soldier fighting abroad.
During World War II, worker safety was a major theme of public service announcements. These messages often promoted the importance and need of production on the homefront. Other themes relating to the workforce included healthy eating, proper usage of tools, and warnings about taking too much time off from work.

If there's anything you want to know about posters, vintage or more modern, there's nothing Mr Ross doesn't know. His open and friendly manner helps one to choose the most suitable material whether for decoration, investment or whatever... I can't recommend him highly enough.

Just wanted to say thanks for the poster. You sent it on Thursday and it was delivered the following Monday (nearly quicker than it took us to get home) to our house in Perth, Australia. We have just had it framed. We love it; it goes perfectly with the room.

The Ross Gallery has the best selection of vintage posters I have ever seen. Seriously, if you are in the market, they are the people. And, they know everything there is to know about the posters' provenance.
