Germany - Wiedersehen with Germany
Germany - Wiedersehen with Germany
(64cm x 102cm)
In the early 1950's there was a world wide expansion of tourist travel. This poster image was created to promote travel to Germany, in this instance with text in English. The image of the little girl dressed in Bavarian style opening the letter with the text "Wiedersehen in Germany" (We will meet again in Germany) is an inviting way of portraying the simple charm of Germany. This image was also printed with different text messages by the German Railroad Authority.
The poster was created by Hanns Lohrer ( 1912 - 1995) . Lohrer was both a graphic artist and painter who spent his career in Stuttgat, Germany. His best known work is for the Porsche company and it is Lohrer who is often credited for the refreshed style of Porsche's advertising in the 1960's. Those posters are highly collectible today and stand out in the history of Porsche's advertising.

If there's anything you want to know about posters, vintage or more modern, there's nothing Mr Ross doesn't know. His open and friendly manner helps one to choose the most suitable material whether for decoration, investment or whatever... I can't recommend him highly enough.

Just wanted to say thanks for the poster. You sent it on Thursday and it was delivered the following Monday (nearly quicker than it took us to get home) to our house in Perth, Australia. We have just had it framed. We love it; it goes perfectly with the room.

The Ross Gallery has the best selection of vintage posters I have ever seen. Seriously, if you are in the market, they are the people. And, they know everything there is to know about the posters' provenance.
