Menthe Pastille by Oge is a 1913 French liquor advertisement by Eugene Oge (1861-1936) for Giffard Distilleries in Angers, France. The mint flavored liquor, La Menthe- Pastille, was first produced in 1885 by pharmacist, Emile Giffard and still exists today.
Eugene Oge ( 1869 - 1936) was an accomplished poster artist and caricaturist at the turn of the century.His style was focused on humor and he was known for his caricatures of famous people. The scene presented in this poster is that of major world leaders of the time reaching reconciliations with one another over drinks of La Menthe- Pastille. The main text reads "At the tribunal of the Hague, La Menthe Pastille fascinated the world!". Each of the world leaders are positioned with their political rivals revealing several comedic situations.
