Moto Flirt
Moto Flirt
(46cm x 66cm)
The beginning of the 20th Century witnessed the dawn of the era of the automobile. The early autimobiles were often open air with no roof. Such is the case with this illustration by the artist, Georges Meunier, where we see the motorist in his long coat standing on the top of his automobile in order to get closer to the womn reaching over the wall. The image is titled 'Moto Flirt' and it certainly is aptly named as they are clearly flirting with each other while the passenger looks up to watch.
Georges Meunier (1869-1042) was a talented artist who created a small body of posters between 1894 - 1910. He was born in Saint Cloud, France and trained in Paris at the National School of Fine Arts. He worked at the Chaix Print Studios under Jules Cheret and clearly emulated Cheret's style with Meunier's flair for humor.

If there's anything you want to know about posters, vintage or more modern, there's nothing Mr Ross doesn't know. His open and friendly manner helps one to choose the most suitable material whether for decoration, investment or whatever... I can't recommend him highly enough.

Just wanted to say thanks for the poster. You sent it on Thursday and it was delivered the following Monday (nearly quicker than it took us to get home) to our house in Perth, Australia. We have just had it framed. We love it; it goes perfectly with the room.

The Ross Gallery has the best selection of vintage posters I have ever seen. Seriously, if you are in the market, they are the people. And, they know everything there is to know about the posters' provenance.
