Picon Aperitif - Woman
Picon Aperitif - Woman
(91cm x 127cm)
Picon Aperitif- Woman is a 1959 French advertisement by Marcus Campbell. Campbell was a classically trained British artist. He worked as an art director for Lord & Thomas Advertising in Paris and for J. Walter Thomson in London. In the 1950's he created posters mainly for consumer goods, including Coca-Cola among others. His illustration style from the 1950's is direct with bold swaths of color that seem to predict the pop art movement of the 1960's.
Amer Picon was developed in 1837 by Gaetan Picon, Amer Picon is flavored with oranges, gentian and chinchona. Amer Picon is sweet, but balanced by the citrus and bitter aspects. Amer Picon is famous in the Basque region as the main ingredient in Picon Punch.

If there's anything you want to know about posters, vintage or more modern, there's nothing Mr Ross doesn't know. His open and friendly manner helps one to choose the most suitable material whether for decoration, investment or whatever... I can't recommend him highly enough.

Just wanted to say thanks for the poster. You sent it on Thursday and it was delivered the following Monday (nearly quicker than it took us to get home) to our house in Perth, Australia. We have just had it framed. We love it; it goes perfectly with the room.

The Ross Gallery has the best selection of vintage posters I have ever seen. Seriously, if you are in the market, they are the people. And, they know everything there is to know about the posters' provenance.
