This is one poster in a very broad campaign relaying messages about maintaining confidentiality and keeping quiet during war times. During the Second World War, the United States Government was very concerned about inappropriate information being overhead by enemy agents both domestic and abroad and relay the information to their country and thus led to injury and possible death of our soldiers.

The image depicted is meant to be graphic and provoke an emotional reaction from the viewer in order to solidify the message of silence. Vibrant colors and bold movement work together to strengthen the message of illustration.

This Original Vintage Poster is part of a series designed by Albert Dorne in 1942. Dorne was an American illustrator born in 1906 in New York City. In addition to his artistic practice, he was the co-founder of the Code of Ethics and Fair Practices of the Profession of Commercial Art and Illustration as well as co-founder of correspondence schools for aspiring artists, photographers, and writers. Dorne has made illustrations for The Saturday Evening Post, Life, and other well known magazines.

This is a not often seen small format of this poster design. This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is on paper and in excellent condition. We guarantee the authenticity of all of our posters.

  • If there's anything you want to know about posters, vintage or more modern, there's nothing Mr Ross doesn't know. His open and friendly manner helps one to choose the most suitable material whether for decoration, investment or whatever... I can't recommend him highly enough.

  • Just wanted to say thanks for the poster. You sent it on Thursday and it was delivered the following Monday (nearly quicker than it took us to get home) to our house in Perth, Australia. We have just had it framed. We love it; it goes perfectly with the room.

  • The Ross Gallery has the best selection of vintage posters I have ever seen. Seriously, if you are in the market, they are the people. And, they know everything there is to know about the posters' provenance.
