The Absolut Vodka Advertising Company known for its longevity in the world of advertising, is equally known for its design innovation. This sentiment goes hand in hand with the real purpose behind the campaign: to build a healthy and enduring brand for Absolut (Lewis). The Absolut Vodka Company is also known for its collaboration with and commissioning of famed artists and fashion designers such as Andy Warhol, Keith Haring and Helmut Lange. The Absolut Vodka Company Campaigns have unequivocally made their mark in advertising history and are to this day, highly sought after. This poster was created by licensing the image from the Warhol Estate and was used primarily in Europe for outdoor advertising.Andy Warhol (1928 - 1987) was an American artist, film director and producer. Warhol was a leading figure in the Pop Art movement, where he tackled the integration of art, celebrity and consumerist culture in his works. Well known for his serigraphs such as his Marilyn Diptych and Campbell’s Soup Cans, Warhol also produced and directed his own experimental films such as "Chelsea Girls", created Interview Magazine and managed The Velvet Underground. Warhol was multifaceted in medium, using photography, film, sculpture, paint and printmaking to create his various works. Before becoming the art icon he is known as today, Warhol was a commercial illustrator. After moving from Pittsburgh to New York in 1949, Warhol designed store window displays and created ads for luxury brands such as Chanel and Lighthouse Footwear. Today, one can find his works at the Andy Warhol Museum located in the artists’ hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Art Institute of Chicago, and almost every other major museum in the world.
