This poster was created by Jupp Wiertz in 1937 for the Bayreuth Theater Festival, which is the oldest summer opera festival in the world. As the conductor guides his orchestra, the spirit of Richard Wagner rises from the pit. It is a dramatic image that is perfect for the music lover.

Richard Wagner (1813-1883) is considered one of the most important German composers, after Beethoven. Wagner initiated the Beyrouth Festival as a venue to showcase his latest and favorite works, and it has become an internationally renowned event in the music world. Adolf Hitler adored the music of Wagner, and once he became chancellor of Germany he made the composer's estate his home. Hitler attended the Beyrouth Festival from 1933 - 1939.

Jupp Wiertz (1888 - 1939) was one of the most well-known German poster artists of his time. In 1914, he opened his own independent studio where he created many posters for the travel industry, especially for train lines. His images are about motion and speed, and here he gives those elements a lighter touch by using naturalistic elements of snow and trees, rendered with painterly sensibilities.
