Cabanne Nirouet - Huilerie De Paris
Cabanne Nirouet - Huilerie De Paris
(140cm x 98cm)
Modernity comes rolling into town by way of automobile in this charming early auto poster for motor oil. The adventurous and glamorous couple careen through a provincial square, startling a horse on an old fashioned buggy. The shop that sells Cabanne- Nirouet oil is bustling with business, showing off how in-demand the product is.
This poster is by Ernest Montaut (1878-1909). Montaut was a French poster artist that invented and used many printing techniques. Among them were speed lines and the deliberate distortion of perspective to create the illusion of movement and speed. Montaut's work can be seen as a testimony of early history of motorized transport, usually depicting images of motorboat racing, motorcycles, motor car racing, zeppelins and biplanes. Montaut's work became popular in Paris, where it was shown in stores on the Rue de l'Opera and Rue de la Paix.
This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed, and in very good condition. There is a small blemish above the 'B" in 'Bourrelier'. We guarantee the authenticity of all of our posters.

If there's anything you want to know about posters, vintage or more modern, there's nothing Mr Ross doesn't know. His open and friendly manner helps one to choose the most suitable material whether for decoration, investment or whatever... I can't recommend him highly enough.

Just wanted to say thanks for the poster. You sent it on Thursday and it was delivered the following Monday (nearly quicker than it took us to get home) to our house in Perth, Australia. We have just had it framed. We love it; it goes perfectly with the room.

The Ross Gallery has the best selection of vintage posters I have ever seen. Seriously, if you are in the market, they are the people. And, they know everything there is to know about the posters' provenance.
