Heavyweight Champion Jack Dempsey is featured in this poster that was a supplement of The Chicago Sun on Sunday, October 11, 1942. It is part of a series of three posters featuring famous boxers serving in the War, with Gene Tunney and Joe Louis rounding out the group. Details about Dempsey's station and boxing record are below his illustrated portrait.

Jack Dempsey (1895-1993) is one of the most famous American boxers of all time. He was the world heavyweight champion from 1919-1926. Dempsey drew criticism when he did not enlist in WWI. By the time WWII came around, he was a household name and made it a priority to enlist with the U.S. Coast Guard, leading their physical education and training programs. He was onboard an attacker ship during the invasion of Okinawa.

This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed, and in excellent condition.
