Del Monte Roundup - Large Horizontal

Del Monte Roundup Large Horizontal is part of a c. 1965 advertising campaign for Del Monte Foods. Del Monte Foods is a California based company founded in 1886 that specializes in processed and canned fruit and vegetables. The poster series is beautifully painted in the traditional illustrative style.

This complete series was used in supermarkets around the United States to advertise the canning company's "Round-Up" Campaign. Starting in the 1940's and appearing biannually, Del Monte took advantage of the popular iconographies of cowboys and the West to encourage customers to 'round-up' on canned peaches and veggies. This usually accompanied a sale on the goods; further encouragement for customers to buy in bulk.
