(62cm x 99cm)
Discover France by Train - Paris is a 1953 English language travel advertisement by Andre Planson (1898-1981) for the French Railway. The French Railway is commonly known as SNCF, Societe Nationale de Chemin de Fer. Throughout the years, they have commissioned prominent artists to depict well known destinations in France to encourage train travel by the French public and visitors.
This poster features the Left Bank of the Seine in Paris, a location known for its many second hand booksellers called Bouquinistes. The tradition dates to the mid-19th Century when sellers were granted to right to set up small stalls along the river. Other Parisian landmarks such as the Carousel Bridge and Notre Dame can be seen in the background.

If there's anything you want to know about posters, vintage or more modern, there's nothing Mr Ross doesn't know. His open and friendly manner helps one to choose the most suitable material whether for decoration, investment or whatever... I can't recommend him highly enough.

Just wanted to say thanks for the poster. You sent it on Thursday and it was delivered the following Monday (nearly quicker than it took us to get home) to our house in Perth, Australia. We have just had it framed. We love it; it goes perfectly with the room.

The Ross Gallery has the best selection of vintage posters I have ever seen. Seriously, if you are in the market, they are the people. And, they know everything there is to know about the posters' provenance.
