A sorrowful child looks right at us as she clutches a framed photograph of her father who lost his life due to "Careless Talk" in this haunting WWII poster. Even more dramatic is the text pleading with us, "Don't kill her daddy". It is a dramatic and effective image from a very serious time in American life.

During the Second World War, there was a constant concern in the United States about inappropriate information being overheard by enemy agents both domestically and abroad.

Dorothy Hope Smith (1895-1955) was an American illustrator who studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and became part of a thriving illustrators community in Westport, CT. She is most well known for her illustration of the Gerber Baby, but also created several posters and many magazine illustrations.

This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed, and in very good condition. There has been some slight restoration along the fold lines that are minimal. We guarantee the authenticity of all of our posters.
