Don't Spend It All - The Squirrel Saves
Don't Spend It All - The Squirrel Saves
(51cm x 76cm)
The "Don’t Spend It All" posters were part of an advertising campaign that ran during the early 1920’s which urged individuals to save more and deposit in their banks. Each design and respective message of these posters, while varied in their content, all reflect the purpose of the campaign as a whole: to make the general public feel that savings would help to improve their financial futures.
This specific poster features the logo of the campaign, a yellow steel triangle inscribed with "Don’t Spend It All" on the bottom left corner. The poster features a father and son watching a squirrel getting ready to hibernate. The upper portion of the poster features the text "The squirrel saves for the winter of his life. A wonderful lesson from Nature!" a lesson that the father would teach his son.
The poster is signed by the artist, E Bergstein. Unfortunately, there is no information on the artist.

If there's anything you want to know about posters, vintage or more modern, there's nothing Mr Ross doesn't know. His open and friendly manner helps one to choose the most suitable material whether for decoration, investment or whatever... I can't recommend him highly enough.

Just wanted to say thanks for the poster. You sent it on Thursday and it was delivered the following Monday (nearly quicker than it took us to get home) to our house in Perth, Australia. We have just had it framed. We love it; it goes perfectly with the room.

The Ross Gallery has the best selection of vintage posters I have ever seen. Seriously, if you are in the market, they are the people. And, they know everything there is to know about the posters' provenance.
