This original vintage poster was created by David Klein (1918–2005) for Trans World Airlines (TWA) to promote travel to Boston. Designed during the golden age of American jet travel in the late 1950s and early 1960s, the poster reflects the vibrant, modernist visual language that helped define TWA’s advertising campaigns under art director Howard Gossage.Klein presents Boston through a bold and imaginative composition centered around a Revolutionary War–era drum emblazoned with the American eagle, symbolizing the city’s deep colonial history and patriotic legacy. David Klein was one of the most celebrated commercial illustrators of the mid-20th century. Best known for his dynamic and colorful travel posters for TWA, Klein’s work helped shape the visual identity of American aviation advertising. His style combined elements of modernism, abstraction, and bold graphic simplification, often using saturated color, expressive line work, and layered imagery to convey both place and motion. Beyond his airline commissions, Klein also produced Broadway poster art and other commercial illustrations, but it is his TWA travel series that remains the most sought after by collectors today. This is an Original Vintage Poster, it is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed and in excellent condition. We guarantee the authenticity of all our posters.
