"The World of Sake" is advertised in this charming Japanese poster produced by the Kitagawa Honke Sake Brewery in the early 1920s. It was traditional at this time in Japan to advertise products with beautiful models in traditional garb - usually without the product being featured. It is safe to assume the model in this poster would have been a well-known stage actress or singer, as was common at the time.
Kitagawahonke Sake Brewery has been a producer of sake, a liqueur similar to wine that is made from fermenting rice, since 1657 in Kyoto. It is still run by the original family, and is one of the older sake houses still in existence.
This is an Original Vintage Poster. It is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed and in excellent condition. We guarantee the authenticity of all of our posters.
