This large poster for Geisweiler is a great example of to-the-point product advertising. In the center of the image, a bottle of the wine and a clear glass are stylistically positioned set against a beige background. In the lower portion of the image, the artist Lajos Marton, uses typography and contrasting colors to catch the attention of the viewer. The text reads, "The very soul of Burgundy." Burgundy is the region in France where this wine was produced. The simplicity serves to imply that this superior product speaks for itself.
Geisweiler is a well known French sparkling wine, renowned for its elegance and freshness. Founded in 1804 by Francois Geisweiler, the winery is one of the oldest in Burgundy. Geisweiler is still available for consumption today at an affordable price; each wine is presented in a sophisticated and embossed bottle.
Lajos Marton (1891-1952) was a Hungarian poster artist. Marton studied at the Applied Arts School where he designed several Youth Organization Magazines. Throughout his career, Marton illustrated books, stamps and several posters.
