After the end of the Second World War and the surging economy of the 1950's throughout the world, individuals found themselves with more free time and the growth of leisure sports began. Golf, was experiencing an upsurge and this bold graphic created in 1960 by Munetsugu Satomi captures the viewers eye and relates an encouraging message to enjoy the sport of golf. The gradation of the color green suggest a tranquility to be found on a golf course as well as a sense of movement of the golf ball into the hole.

Munetsugu Satomi ( 1904 - 1996) was a highly accredited and revered Japanese graphic designer. His family immigrated to France in 1922 where he enrolled in the Ecole des Beaux Arts. In the late 1920's he began his career in the world of advertising design and developed a strong style reflective of the art deco influence of A.M. Cassandre and other poster luminaries if that period. Over the span of his graphic design career he is credited with creating over 10,000 images winning countless design awards during his career.
