The Hamburg-Amerika Linie [Line] was a transatlantic shipping enterprise established in Hamburg, Germany in 1847 and operated through 1970. This poster promoted a world tour in 1904 via passenger ship. The poster reads "Time travel around the world." In order to make the various destinations more attractive and interesting, the artist used an eclectic group of figure interlaced through the spokes of the ship's wheel. The flags and the different people shown on the poster are a visual representation of the cultures that would be encountered on the tour. Some of the many countries are the USA, China, and Japan. Although the company is no longer in business, it was well known during its time. Little is known about the artist.
