This is an original vintage poster created in 1929 by the French artist, Georges Dola. In this poster we see a Polish man appealing to his girlfriend and letting her know that he is no longer a playboy and wants only her in his life. The music for this operetta was composed by Austro-Hungarian composer Franz Lehár, who is also known for the writing the operetta, The Merry Widow, among many others.
Georges Dola (1872-1950) was born in Dole - a town in Eastern France. Dola's birth name was Edouard Vernier but he painted under the name of Georges Dola, having taken his name from his hometown. He was a painter, printer (specializing in lithography), and a graphic designer. He was also well known for his sheet music covers and his operetta poster works.
