In this whimsical image we see the young man stretching his arms as wide as he can to let us know just how wide the new giant screen from Sonora Television is. This poster was created in the early 1960's when the television technology was first developing and larger screens were 21" - 26" unlike the oversize flat screens of today. This is a fun image from the mid-century period.

In 1908, the Sonora Chime Company in New York City patented its system of chiming bells to be put into its clocks and the company began using the motto "clear as a bell" for their products. This was just one of the major changes that the company would go under in years to come. As time progressed, the Sonora Company did its best to stay relevant in the market. The Sonora Chime Company was reincorporated as the Sonora Phonograph Company under founder George Brightson in 1913.

In 1923, Sonora phonographs were being sold in two stores in France. Nine years later, the company expanded to Europe and opened an affiliate branch in France in 1932. The French Sonora Company never exported any of their products to the United States.

By 1938, the Company, under the Articles of Incorporation, was re-established as the Sonora Radio and Television Corporation. The corporation dissolved in 1958.
