The Lowenbrau Company has been brewing its beer since the founding in 1383 in Munich, Germany. The beer is produced in accordance with the German Reinheitsgebot ( purity law) that originated in 1516. The company has a rich history and the product is sold world wide today.
In this charming graphic created by the artist E. Tieck, we see a lion perched atop a keg of Oktoberfest Bier with a pretzel dangling from his necklace. The lion represents the trademark of Lowenbrau ( Lion’s Brew in German). Because only beers that are brewed in Munich are permitted to be sold at Oktoberfest, Löwenbräu is one of six breweries represented, along with Augustinerbräu, Hofbräuhaus, Hacker-Pschorr, Paulaner, and Spaten.
