Marines fire away across enemy lines in Tarawa, Japan in this American WWII poster by Sargeant H.A. Jackson. It is part of a 1945 enlistment campaign by the U.S. Marine Corps, which depicted different scenes of battle. Each poster in the series features art by an active servicemember.

The text of this poster reads: "Tarawa - At Tarawa, Japan's garrison was confident of stopping the United States' great amphibious drive. The Second Marine Division, Reenforced, assaulted that gun-laden atoll on Nov. 20, 1943, and in 76 hours of flaming battle silenced the last Japanese gun and raised the Stars and Stripes".

This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed, and in excellent condition.
We guarantee the authenticity of all of our posters.
