Nu Assis, Jambes Croisees by Henri Matisse is a 1989 Serigraph print released by Silvio Zamorani Editore in Italy with the approval of the Estate of Henri Matisse. The original artwork was created by Matisse during the period of 1941-1942.

Henri Matisse (1869-1954) was a leading figure in the Modern Art movement of the early 20th century. After beginning to paint in 1889, he became a student of Gustave Moreau and was later influenced by the artwork of Edouard Manet and Japanese woodblock prints. His simplicity of form and clear distinction of color areas became a key trait of his artwork. His work continually evolved from academic figurative in his early works to abstract color compositions towards the end of his life, influenced in part by Jazz music.

An artist of many techniques, Matisse was a master painter, as well as a sculptor. He shared a lifelong friendship with Pablo Picasso and Gertrude Stein, who helped to popularize his artwork. Matisse's influence extends from the Fine Arts to the graphic arts, and whose influence is clearly exhibited in posters of the 1950's including those by Jal, and later the artwork of Bernard Villemot.

Matisse's artwork is collected in many museums around the world, with major works held at the Museum Of Modern Art in New York and Tate Modern. The Musee Matisse is located in Matisse's adopted hometown of Nice, France and contains hundreds of illustrations, gouaches, and paintings by the artist.
