Peacocks Panel
Peacocks Panel
(154cm x 62cm)
Peacocks Panel was designed in 1903 by the Art Nouveau illustrator, Alfred Muller (1869-1939). This panel is one of a set of six illustrated by Muller. The artwork beautifully captures the grace of the peacocks as they are set in a background of highly detailed plants and flowers. Muller was known for his meticulous depiction of wildlife and flora.
Alfred Muller was born in Livorno, Italy and trained as an illustrator and painter in Florence before moving to France at the turn of the century. Muller produced over 200 etchings and 100 drawings from 1896-1906. He was a contributor to Cocorico, the French graphic arts magazine founded by Steinlen. Muller also produced a separate body of work as an accomplished painter. He was influenced by Impressionism and was acquainted with many important artists including Renoir, Pissarro, and Cezanne. He was also a distant relative of famed poster illustrator, Leonetto Cappiello.

If there's anything you want to know about posters, vintage or more modern, there's nothing Mr Ross doesn't know. His open and friendly manner helps one to choose the most suitable material whether for decoration, investment or whatever... I can't recommend him highly enough.

Just wanted to say thanks for the poster. You sent it on Thursday and it was delivered the following Monday (nearly quicker than it took us to get home) to our house in Perth, Australia. We have just had it framed. We love it; it goes perfectly with the room.

The Ross Gallery has the best selection of vintage posters I have ever seen. Seriously, if you are in the market, they are the people. And, they know everything there is to know about the posters' provenance.
