Charles Schulz (1922 - 2000) is widely regarded as one of the most important cartoonists in the field's history. Born in St. Paul, Minnesota, Schulz returned from WWII and began a life and career as a cartoonist in the Mid-West. His 'Peanuts' comic strip first appeared in the Saturday Evening Post in 1948, and went into sindication in almost every local newspaper in America.
