Peru via Panagra
(52cm x 69cm)
This post-WWII poster marks the promotion of traveling after the chaotic period during the World War ll. This warm colored poster was created to attract people to Peru via Panagra Air. . With a climate that ranges from desert dry to tropical lush to extreme cold (in the Andes region), Peru offers a broad range of diversity between its sea level elevation, Pacific beaches, and the 22,204 foot top of its highest mountain, Nevado Huascaran.
Carlos Ruano-Llopis (1879-1950) is a Spanish painter known for his design of this famous poster. In the poster, the vigorous bull is sprinting toward the bullfighter, who stands elegantly and confidently raising the red muleta. The action of the bull and the movement of the cloth are so fast and powerful that the peripheral of the image becomes blurry.
Pan American-Grace Airways, also known as Panagra, and dubbed "The World's Friendliest Airline" was an airline formed as a joint venture between Pan American World Airways and Grace Shipping Company. On September 13, 1928, a small single-engine Fairchild airliner flew from Lima, Peru, to Talara, Peru, which marked not only the beginning of Pan American Grace Airways but also the inauguration of scheduled air transportation along the West Coast of South America. From this short flight in 1928 to nonstop flights from New York to South America with Douglas DC-8 Intercontinental Jets in 1966, Panagra became the standard bearer for transportation between the US Mainland East Coast and, the West Coast of South America for 39 years. The "World's Friendliest Airline" merged with Braniff International Airways in 1967, and the combined carrier became the largest US airline serving South America.

If there's anything you want to know about posters, vintage or more modern, there's nothing Mr Ross doesn't know. His open and friendly manner helps one to choose the most suitable material whether for decoration, investment or whatever... I can't recommend him highly enough.
Just wanted to say thanks for the poster. You sent it on Thursday and it was delivered the following Monday (nearly quicker than it took us to get home) to our house in Perth, Australia. We have just had it framed. We love it; it goes perfectly with the room.

The Ross Gallery has the best selection of vintage posters I have ever seen. Seriously, if you are in the market, they are the people. And, they know everything there is to know about the posters' provenance.
