This poster was created by Porsche to celebrate their first place win at the 1972 Riverside Can-Am. The winner was American Porsche driver George Follmer, who won racing a Porsche 917 Turbo vehicle. George Follmer (1934 - ) is widely regarded as one of the most important American race car drivers of the 1970s. Follmer competed in various NASCAR and Indy 500 races, as well as 24 Hours of Le Mans.

This poster was created by David Stone, who created several other images and advertisements for the racing world in the later 1960s and early 1970s. Unfortunately, little else is known about him.

Ferdinand Porsche began his famed automotive business in Germany in 1931, and it originally started as a parts manufacturer that supplied Volkswagen. During WWII, Porsche created military tanks and supplies. It was not until 1948 that Porsche produced its first sportscar. Ever since, Porsche has been known on the racing circuit as well as a high performance sports and luxury car for the consumer markets.
