The Matson Navigation Company was founded in 1882 by William Matson. The company is still in existence today, and is a publicly traded transportation company. It began as a transporter of products to and from the Hawaiian Islands and in later years added other destinations in the Pacific Ocean. This particular poster features the Asian Pacific island of Fiji. Other posters in this series include Australia and Tahiti. Fiji is advertised here as being reachable by the SS Mariposa and the SS Monterey cruise liners.
Louis Macouillard (1913-1987) was an American artist born in San Francisco, California and educated at the California College of Arts and Crafts. He was a painter who specialized in watercolors, as we can see in this poster design. During his career, his work was part of many posters, books, magazines, and commercial advertising.
This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed, and in excellent condition. We guarantee the authenticity of all of our posters.

What Does 'Original' Mean?
We only deal in original vintage posters, never reproductions. This means that every poster is from the original print run, in the year listed in the description. Everything we sell comes with an individually signed certificate of authenticity, which we fully guarantee.
